About me

Matthew Coxon

Educational Psychologist

Hello, I'm Matthew Coxon. I'm an HCPC registered Educational Psychologist with doctoral training from the University of Exeter, and over a decade of experience working alongside children, young people, families, and schools. My practice is grounded in the belief that understanding how a person learns, communicates, and experiences the world is the first step towards meaningful support.

I specialise in cognition and learning, communication and interaction, and social, emotional and mental health. My particular areas of interest lie in literacy, school-based non-attendance, and relational practice in schools. Whether I am carrying out an assessment, meeting with parents, or working directly with a young person, I hold these principles lightly and practically — always centring the individual and the environments that shape them.

I am a DDP informed and person-centred practitioner, which means relationships sit at the heart of everything I do — with the young person, and with the adults around them.
